eBay changed your login screen today to promote eBay Buyer Protection. This is just in time for the holidays. I am sure it will provide a lift to sales and confidence. The bigger question though is will it bring back former users of eBay and Paypal back to the site to shop. Every time there is a blog post about eBay or Paypal, there is always a horror story attached to it. Until the angry buyers that got gypped somehow become buyers again, it will become a very long journey. In many ways, this reminds me of the perception of the American car industry. Until the Asian made cars received bad publicity, there was not much lift in sales. Perhaps Amazon needs a big blunder for eBay to take advantage of it. Until then, I don’t think we’ll see much of a noticeable growth at eBay.
