In 2009, Wal-Mart implemented Project Impact, which was expected to benefit the company by streamline their stores, reduce the number of under performing products and expand selection in product lines where greater profits could be achieved. This led to a number of brands and products being removed from store shelves which cause a negative reaction amongst loyal suppliers and customers.
